One of my favorite trends across book blogs is the “Top Ten Tuesday” trend. I thought I would give my take, with my first TTT being simple: the top ten books I’ve read so far this year (in no particular order). Let’s jump straight into it:
The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood
One of my favorite romance reads of all time! I still think about the male lead to this day, and I’m obsessed with their chemistry. I think both characters have a great story, and I love that we get to see both of them. The conflict is very real and believable, and I FLEW through this book. Pretty sure I read it in less than 24 hours.
Book Lovers by Emily Henry
This book is highly rated for a reason. The chemistry in this book is unreal, and the relationship between the main character and her sister is beautifully written and could be it’s own book, even in the absence of the romance. If this were the case, however, we would miss out on one of the most lovable progressions of love I’ve ever witnessed. I felt for every single character in this book and I wish I could read it again for the first time. I LOVE how Emily Henry wrapped it up as well!
Under the Dome by Stephen King
This was my first Stephen King read and I definitely get the hype. This book made my gut twist on the regular. The reason this book is so scary is because it’s so real.It really feels like what would happen if a small town got trapped with a bunch of bad people under it, and if you’re into thrillers with supernatural occurrences, this one is for you. It’s over 1000 pages though, so beware!
Part of Your World by Abby Jimenez
Part of Your World was so sweet and the story went by so fast. One of the most captivating reads right from the start. The beginning of this books is one of my favorites of all time, and the male lead is so sweet! I love their relationship and watching the female lead grow into confidence. The cover is so perfect, and the side characters are just as precious as the main ones. Love this book!
Fire Keeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley
This book is one of the first thriller’s I’ve ever read. I loved the main character and her relationship with her religion and those around her. I don’t even care how unrealistic this book is, I love it. It was thrilling all the way until the end, and I didn’t see pretty much any twist in this book coming. I had never read a book with a Native American female lead, and now that I have I want to completely dive into the world of Native leads in novels. Can’t believe this book was Angeline’s debut. Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful.
The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston
I am obsessed with magical realism in novels, and this books does that so well. I love the concept, and I just think it is so original and so well done. I can’t wait to get my hands on more Ashley Poston after this read! The extra element to this book, the main character’s aunt, is also a huge plus and a big part of the reason as to why this book is on the list. We never even meet her aunt in real time, but the reader definitley grows to love her.
The Snow Like Ashes series by Sara Raasch
I will be so honest when I say the only reason I read this book was because I thrifted it and put myself on a book ban… I’m so glad I finally picked up this book that had been on my shelf for years. Immediately after reading the first book, I ordered the next two! The book is interesting, unique, well described, and the characters (though a little whiny at times) are so lovable. The plot twists that happen in this book are crazy, and I found myself thinking, “how did she come up with this?” all the time. Great series, and so underrated in the fantasy world!
It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey
This book is the most grumpy sunshine trope fulfillment ever! I love both of the characters in this, even though they could not be more different. The setting in this book actually made me want to pack up and move to a sailing town. This book wasn’t necessarily ground-breaking or anything extremely new/interesting, but it was still one of my favorites I’ve read this year easily. Warning, it is very spicy!
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab
I have a full review of this book on my reviews page! You can read that to see exactly why this book made top ten, but overall I love the themes of this story, the main character, the protagonist, the writing style, and so much more about this book.
The Heretic Queen by Michelle Moran
Another book I thrifted and read during my book buying ban that has made it to the top ten list! This book had a beautiful sense of time and place. The concept was really interesting and you really felt for the main character the whole time. I wish I would have read the previously released book by this author before this one, but overall this was a great read. It completely pushed me down a rabbit hole of Egyptian history!
